Retro Roadmap One Year Anniversary, Thanks to You!

I can’t believe that it has been one year already since I started Retro Roadmap, and want to thank all of you folks for the input, support and encouragement along the way!

I’ve learned a lot of things during this past year doing Retro Roadmap:

  • It sure takes up a lot of time, but I still absolutely love it!
  • I should probably have a separate category for Donuts ๐Ÿ™‚
  • I stand behind my “ac-cent-tuate the positive” approach whenever I can. We can all lament that things were better before, and people should’ve done things differently now, but I think it’s important to support the places that are doing things the “right” way, according the the Retro Roadmap definition.
  • There are still a lot of cool old places out there trying to survive – I want to make them easy to find so folks can go there, spend their money and keep ’em going!
  • If there was a way for me to do nothing but Retro Roadmap, I’d do it. C’mon Powerball!

Enough about me, now it’s about you:

  • What do YOU like about Retro Roadmap?
  • What do you think could improve your experience with Retro Roadmap?

As I’ve said before I’m just one gal/wife/aunt/friend doing what I hope is my best, to share information about cool old and vintage places with everyone, and I want to do whatever I can to make Retro Roadmap your go to place for Retro Road Trip Inspiration!

Thanks so much to each and every one of you for hanging out at the Retro Roadmap– here’s to another year of cool old vintage and retro fun!

Mod Betty / Beth / Retro Roadaunt

Rick- I do too! Looking forward to doing more of them, especially in the winter months! If you’re ever looking for Retro Roadmap type suggestions for the Gulf Coast, Jeff at Nifty Nic Nacs is a great resource!

Here’s to many more years of Retro Roadtripping fun!

Indeed, and right back atcha! I have a feeling we’ll be meeting up on the road sooner rather than later, the way things have been going lately! Thanks for your comments and info, always fun to have a kindred spirit on the road!

Congratulations to you! Yes, blogging is a big time commitment if done correctly, and I say you are getting it right!

Is there some way you can keep me from getting so hungry while reading?

Thank you for the kind words Lizzie, and unfortunately I have not found the way to not get hungry when writing Retro Roadmap! I realized today that some businesses fare better than others in staying true to their original look and intent and for whatever reasons, food places are the biggest category I’ve found.
Being a vintage clothing person I thought you’d appreciate the fact that my Retro Roadmap eating has me wearing fewer shifts and sheaths and more swingy skirts ๐Ÿ™‚
Always a pleasure to read about your doins on Vintage Traveler- thanks so much for allowing me to share some of your posts with the Retro Roadmap Readers!

Seems like you’ve been doing this forever. I just mentioned you to Chris at Blanchard’s 101 Diner today. He emailed me a week ago and said he was searching the web and found the co-post about Diner Hotline’s best diners from last August on Retro Roadmap. I emailed him back and said that was from last year.

Larry- I feel like I’ve been doing this for forever, but in a good way! I’ve been taking photos of roadside places, old buildings and the like for a double digit number of years (I shudder to do the math) but only recently has technology made it so easy to share what I do with such a wide audience. It’s funny b/c I remember wanting to do this type of thing “back in the day” and thought I’d have to make copies of pages and staple them together and send them out to folks- my how times have changed! Thanks as always for your comments, information and encouragement!

Congrats! I love this blog. You keep it current (yet retro) and fresh!
Happy to help with any old Florida mentions I can steer people to… Many more I have yet to do myself.
Thanks to your site, I can travel vicariously a bit and get beyond the four walls of our store.
As they say in birthday wishes, many happy returns!

Thanks for the kind words Jeff and I admit to being equally as smitten with your shop! I love that I’m retro and fresh at the same time. You’ve become one of the swell folks I’ve met from doing Retro Roadmap, and the like minded folks I’ve come across are just as cool as the places! Hopefully we’ll see you once the cold sets in up north, in the meantime do keep us posted on vintage and retro things down your way.

Time flies when you’re having fun I guess! Yes, hard for me to believe I’ve done so much writing in the past year, considering I don’t consider myself a writer! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the inspirational motivation, hon. Hope I’ve given you some!

Thanks Terry! Wish I had more time to travel- as you can see from looking at the Retro Roadmap I tend to be in the same places over and over again! I would be thrilled and honored to visit the LaPlace Frostop- thanks for being the first- and so far the only – Retro Roadmap entry for Louisiana!
