[CLOSED] Vintage Sign Find – Fornaro’s Liquor Store Pennsville, NJ

Update September 2013: It is with heavy heart that I let you know that these fabulous signs have been removed and the whole place has been stucco’d over. You can read about the “renovation” here. I’ll keep the post up, just so we can remember what it used to look like. 🙁

July 201o:

You never know what you’re going to come upon when you go down roads you’ve never been on before, which is the fun of a road trip. Case in point is this great vintage sign combo for Fornaro’s Liqour Store on Route 49 in Pennsville, NJ. This is the type of sight that makes you (me)  pull the car over, find a place to park and snap a photo.

Look at that free standing sign with the curvy arrow and quarter rainbow. Wait! it’s a double arrow with the lottery sign- I think that’s good luck!

Check out that cheery red orange color against the blue sky, highlighting that Fancy F and stylishly forward leaning apostrophe S.  How about the way that elegantly narrow L in Liquors rises up between the R and the N as if to reach for the star(s)- literally!

The store wasn’t open that early morning when I was driving by, or else I’d have gone in to buy something and to let them know the fact that they had that cool signage is what made me come in to make my purchase. Maybe if we all do that to places that keep their original signage and look they will think twice in replacing it with a boring plastic sign. Crossed fingers!
