Thanks for the peek inside! I’ve been through the station (on a train) and I’ve driven by a number of times … but I’ve never been inside!

I need to take some pictures of Penn Station in Baltimore the next time that I’m down there. They’ve done some really cool things with it lately 🙂

oh, cool to know! Maybe I’ll do a trip where I take the train to the stations, get out and snap photos and get on the train again!

A scene from the movie Witness was filmed in front of the frieze. When Lucas Haas left the bathroom after witnessing the killing.

That’s true! I definitely remember seeing the inside of the station when I saw the movie years ago – thanks Larry!

Thanks for the gorgeous photos and post on this train station.
When my brother (the architect) recently re-located to Philadelphia, he insisted that I take the train down from NYC when I was in town up there. Little did I know that he was setting me up for the great treat of arriving in style at this amazing train station. It should be on every tourists ‘must see’ list for the city!

Jen – I totally agree it’s a grand entrance into the city! I’m now dreaming about taking the train up and down the Eastern Corridor and seeing what other architectural gems wait for me outside of the train tunnel. I know Union Station in DC is supposed to be beautiful. Ah, the glamour of travel! Your architect brother was spot on 🙂

You have given an awesome ‘shout out’ to Philly’s 30th Street Station. So many fond memories of weekly to and fro back in the day (summer of ’76) when I interned in NYC. Thank you!

Always nice to hear my ham-handed attempts to articulate about these grand places hit home somehow, EP – thanks!
