How time flies! Mod Betty's fave 5 & 10 Sine's in Quakertown PA turns ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD THIS WEEK!
I've been enamored with this brightly enameled storefront and wonderful vintage interior since I first spied it "way back" in 2007. I make an effort to visit there anytime I'm in the area, and did a lot of my Christmas shopping there last year.
If we weren't going away for MY birthday (I'm not 100 but feel like it sometimes ;-)) you know there would be a Retro Roadmap Meetup at the store this weekend as they've got lots of fun stuff in store:
From their website:
We are having a two day celebration on Aug. 10th & 11th to commemorate 100 years in business.
And of course, we will have cake!
I can't tell you how thrilled I am that this mom & pop variety store, located in a small downtown, has stuck around for so long - no mean feat in these tough economic times.
I look forward to visiting them from now until their next 100 year anniversary- when this lil guy should be running the shop!

VA flea market sounds fun – we’ll be in that region too as we’re heading to Romney WV with a bunch of friends to stay at the Koolwink – I’m sure I’ll be posting photos during our stay. I still have WAY too many things on my Summer bucket list, I better get movin’!

December 15, 2017 at 9:06 pmSo happy to find Sines on your list. I just found your site while searching for vintage photos of Quakertown. Sine’s is a great little gem. I made a point to take my nieces there last year (2016, ages 11 and 14) so they could get an idea of what stores used to be like. I plan to take them there again this holiday season. I found tinsel there last year and bought up what they had, they have a great vintage Christmas shop – with newer and older type items. I’m going to take my nieces there for lunch at the counter over Christmas break if they’re open. Everyone should sit and eat at a counter like that once in their life. Bonus: They have tons of vintage photos of the area.
I forgot to add that back in the mid to late 1980s I went there every week with my girlfriend in the summer for the best milkshakes.
